# 2023-07-05 Update
My thoughts on the Bateso after a month or so of ownership:
- It's pretty large and heavy. I'm glad I have bombproof laminate floors because I drag it everywhere. It's hard to move, but I guess large and heavy also make it more stable.
- The safety nets are only moderately useful. They aren't taught enough to prevent feet from slipping off the platform, but, in the event a foot slips, they do help keep the baby from falling off. I guess that's a partial victory. Obviously you shouldn't leave your baby unattended in one of these.
# Original analysis
tl;dr: I think the [[#[Amazon.com: Bateso Step Stool for Toddlers, Two Removable Protection Nets, Kids Step Stool with Standing Platform of 4 Adjustable Heights, Toddler Tower Learning Stool for Kitchen Counter, Bathroom Sink : Baby](https://www.amazon.com/Bateso-Standing-Adjustable-Platform-Cleaning/dp/B08L5WD4X2)|Bateso]] is the best choice. It is the most adjustable, has a large base with anti-tip wings, has safety nets on the front and back, and no negative reviews that are overly concerning. IMO, it is the least attractive of the bunch, but rates the best along the most important dimensions.
I will update this once we've used it for a few weeks.
# Rubric
This is the rubric I'm using to rate each option.
- How adjustable is it?
- How likely is it to tip over?
- How likely will the baby fall out?
- How attractive is it?
- What do the reviews say? What are the main reasons it gets poor reviews?
I searched for "toddler step stool tower" on amazon. I visually scanned the results and clicked on ones that looked safe. Many only have a single safety bar, which is fine for older kids, but I prefer something with a net or multiple safety bars for Everette.

# Step stool style with removable top cage
![[Pasted image 20230430080736.png|200]]
There are many options that are basically a classic step stool with a cage attachment on top. Usually it's removable so it can be converted to a normal step stool. The issue is that this design usually doesn't allow the platform hight to be adjusted.
