## [r/emacs: Do you use Emacs Lisp as a general purpose programming language?](https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/lly7po/comment/gnvzisy/)

## [Recreate the cavity-preventing GMO bacteria BCS3-L1 from precursor | Manifund](https://manifund.org/projects/recreate-the-cavity-preventing-gmo-bacteria-bcs3-l1-from-precursor-)
Imagine populating your mouth with good bacteria that outcompetes the bad bacteria and thus prevents cavities. Apparently such a bacteria was tested in animals, but, for mysterious reasons, trials never progressed past that point.
This guy thinks the technology holds promise, but doesn’t actually have any of the bacteria, so he wants to produce is from “precursor bacteria” and is seeking funding.
> BCS3-L1 isn't under patent, but possession remains a significant part of the law. Although I have the blessing of the original inventor Dr. Jeffrey Hillman, he and his former company Oragenics have parted ways, and as far as we can tell, they're the only holders of the organism.

> But, there's nothing preventing us from recreating BCS3-L1 ourselves from commercially available precursor bacteria.
Oh and apparently this guy has this on his résumé:
